FINAL RESULTS
TOMOANA BACONER COMPETITION BAY OF PLENTY DISTRICT AWARDS The progressively high standard of pig production in the North Island during the off-season was strikingly revealed at the annual baconer competition. sponsored by W. anil R. Fletcher Ltd. ? held at the Westficld freezing works. There were close on 1500 carcases valued at about,£7ooo in the exhibition which attracted a large attendance of producers and others interested in the industry. Prizes awarded in the Bay of Plenty; district were as under:— 1. £15: T. A. Foberts, Galatea; Berk. Tam X Feeding—Tomoana Meatmeal, skim and grass carrots. 307 points. 2. £10: P. Aklous, Galatea; Berk. Tam. X. Feeding—Skim and grass carrots. 289 points.. 3. £5: T. N. Forrest Ngongotaha; Devon X. Feeding— artichokes. 288 points. 4. £2 10s: L. S. Ferguson ? Tauranga; Devon X. Feeding—Swedes and skim. £. Spencer Estate, Edgecumbe. Feeding—Swedes and skim. 6. R. Alexander, Galatea; Tarn. X. Feeding—Swedes } skim carrots. 6 equal: H. N. Brown, Ngongoitalm; Devon X. Feeding—Swedes, skim, artichokes. 8. Swanson Investments Ngongotaha . 9. V. H. L. Ngongotaha; Berk. X. Feeding—Carrots and skim. 10. Reynolds Estate. 11. W. Barnett, Ngongotaha; Devon X. Feeding— grass. Special prize of £5 awarded for returned servicemen of this war. L. R. Nicholson Whit ford; Tam. Berk. X. Feeding—Tomoana Meatmeal, Kumi, skim and grass.
