EXPORT MEAT

GENERAL INCREASE IN NUMBERS AND WEIGHTS New Zealand lias had a favourable season in the production of meat for export. Details ol" export killings at freezing works are available up till June which enables a .survey to be made ol' the season in contrast with the results in the previous season to July 1 ? states the New Zealand Meat Producers Board. The outstanding point is that meat killed "for export this season has exceeded the previous total by 33,000 tons. Improvement has been made not onlv in greater average. J weight per carcase, but in actual numbers of beef mutton and lamb handled.

To this financial inducement was added the good effect of a favourable enabling farmers to maintain stock on the pastures sufficiently long to secure the. heavier weights. The greatest advance has been in beef production the total of quarters being double that of the previous season •to the same date.
