Gordon Cowan (returned , after 4% years service with the 2nd N.Z:E.F. , in the Middle East) son of Mr R. S. and the late Mrs Cowan of Mt« took pJaee at St. James Churchy Wellington recent-* ly. Rev. J. Stewart officiated. Ihe who was given away . by Mr V. Mead ? wore a graceful gown of embossed magnolia satini with a neckline of beaded georgette, , a fitting waistline and full skirt falling into a long train. Her hand emr broidered tulle veil was caught to
her head with a cluster of whit© • rosebuds. A bouquet of daphne and rosebuds was carried. . ' The matron of honour Mrs N. E„ | sister of the bride, wore a frock, of blue cloque with sweetheart neckline, a light fitting bodice and full skirt. The bridesmaid Dawn Mitchell, sister of the bride' and the Uower girls Beverley arid! .il Margaret Birdcall, twin neices. of the bride ■ wore frocks of pink cloque , J made on similar lines to the matrctyt ■' of honour. All carried Victoriani posies to match their halos. The best man was Pte R. Cowan. The reception was held at the? Savoy where the guests were re-+ ceived by Mrs Hayward and Miss Cowan. v 1 RIDDELL—HODGES St. Andrew's Presbyterian Churchy i, Te was the scene of a very a pretty wedding on. June 16, Misk Clarice Isabel Hodges, only daugKter of Mrs A. Hodges and the late ji Mr A. T. Hodges, of Tau-< i ranga, being married to James SkeWr. art only son of Mr and Mrs C. O. Riddell, of Papamoa. The Rev. Melville officiated and ■ Mrs Earp presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her elder brother, wore a gown of embossed satin with a Rouleaux worked yoke and wide glove lengthened sleeves. Her full skirt formetL a graceful «train and was finished with tiny loops. A coronet of orange blossom held her long veil of embroidered net in place and her bou r quet was of cream roses, carnations and shasta daisies. A frock of deep rose cloque finished with tiny pale pink velvet flowers was worn by the Miss Ailsa of Whakatane. Her toque of.shell pink roses matched her bouquet. The little flower Wendy Holland,' of Auckland, niece of the bridegroom, wore a similar frock of shell pink velvet and a topknot of deeper shaded roses. Mr Wallace of Auclj? , land was best man while Leslie 9 9 Hodges, nephew of the bride, was page boy. A reception Avas later held in Baikie's tea rooms, where the usual toasts were honoured. Mrs Hodges; mother of the bride received her guests wearing a navy costume with powder blue accessories and carried a bouquet of blue irises. She wasassisted by IVlrs Riddell mother of the bridegroom, wearing a suit of aqua blue with navy and carried a clover shaded posy. The happy couple later left on their honeymoon amid a shower of confetti. The bride travelled in a > moss green frock, all j with a black coat and accessories:
