FONGAKAWA BOARD MEETS
VITAL WORK PROCEEDING
The following members were present at the July meeting of the PoaRabbit Board which took place last weVk: J. N. Blaymires (chairman) D. J. Dennehy ? C. H. Davies, M 8.. McKenzie A. H. * y Jamieson and the secretary A. H. Dufceson. The question of the purchase of a light truck was introduced by Mr Davies who reported that lie could sell the old truck for £90 cash. The secretary stated that a permit had been received from the Transport Department authorising the Board to buy a light truck. It was resolved that Mr Davis be authorised to purchase a light truck ex the V.R.D. sale through Messrs Hale Nicholls Ltd. ? at a price in the vicinity of £4.00. The •weight of the truck to be between 10-15cwt. and that Mr Davis attend the V.R.D. sale with Mr Nicholls on 25, 25 26 July at Auckland. ' •> •-> * The question of providing suitable huts for rabbiters was discussed when a letter from the Lands and Survey Department offered to sell a hut to the Board size 13' x 9' x T 9 ex Galatea for £50. Mr Jamieson moved that this offer be accepted and left to the committee Messrs McKenzie and Davis for removal. This was agreed to. Mr Jamieson also mentioned that ra hut could probably be purchased ex Mr Gardner Galatea and it was > ) left to Mr McKenzie to look into this with power to act. The committee consisting of Messrs MgJCenzie and Davis were authorised to "take whatever steps were necessary to purchase or construct a hut for the Manawahe district and it was left to Mr Dennehy to arrange for a suitable site. The secretary reported that the unexpended balance of the Government' grants was as follows: Native land £451 10s; Crown land £282 10s; State Forest * £99. The chairman enquired whether a .statement of costs could be prepared without much work i outlining the expenditure in the old Manawahe area, and the Rangitaiki area. The secretary pointed out that it would be necessary to sub-divide the "time sheets for the previous year according to the district in which each man had been working and he would confer with Mr Davis- to see what work was involved. The Board expressed appreciation •of the action of Dr. i n lowing it to use his house in Man--awahe^
