THE ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSN.
QUIETLY carrying out its pledged programme of service to the community, the Whakatane branch of: the SU John Ambulance Association has earned for itself a high title of public regard. It is necessary however to keep the name of this purely voluntary organisation constantly before the people, before as Kipling warns 'we forget.' Members of the St. John Ambulance Association, are drawn from all walks of life, and they have no hesitation in giving their unstinted efforts at all times where there is a need to relieve suffering and to assist the injured and sick. With the scarcity of doctors today their duties have been intensified yet we have still to hear of a complaint from these workers. Tomorrow evening in the Borough Council Chambers the Annual Meeting of the St. John organisation takes place. Public appreciation can at least be shown once a year by making the attendance a record.
