She has thickened out during the winter and may soon make up for the loss of form evidenced early this season. GALLOPED ON The Ellerslie trained Broiedame was galloped on during the running j of the AVhyte Handicap at Trentham and she was withdrawn from '9 her second day engagement. THE G.N. HURDLES The dashing huridler Brantome j) > was not accepted for in the. Winter Hurdles of two and a quarter miles at Trentham, but will contest the Grand National Hurdles next month. Unless he can be restrained in the j early running his chance of victory is not too bright. PROMISING FORM Dr. Ring's Spirillum * who ran fourth in the Trentham Hurdles, finished very fast in a solidly run contest. He did not compete on the second day ? but is being prepared for the Grand National Hurdles. A BREAKDOWN Dr. McGregor Grant's Phaleron, broke down while contesting the Vittoria Hurdles at Trentham and 9 is not likely to race again. ! RE-COMMISSIONED ! Mr W. S. Goosmaa's Niglitmarch —Praise horse Representative who has had a very lengthy holiday # has been put into work by J. L. Muir at Te Rapa. Unless he shows convincing track form he will be sphooled over the. battens. In this department he should be successful as he is a class horse and a stayer. RESTRICTIONS Racing restrictions in Australia come into force at the end of the month. After August 1 no horses older than three \ T ears will be. allowed to start in any maiden, novice or trial stakes and any horse which has not in its previous six starts been placed will also be banned. A complete embargo on two year old fillies has been imposed. THE WINTER CUP Ramicoui't winner of the Whytc Handicap, was withdrawn from the second day engagement before, being rehandieaped. He is now coming into favour for the Winter Cup at Riccarton. He is racing in accord with his pedigree lines. While working at Trentham he sheered off at the crossing, and injured his rider Cleaver. In the Well- ' 9 iiigton Steeplechase he. showed distinct aversion to the puggy course, and simply refused to take any part in the final circuit.
