WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB

WEEK-END PLAY

Dae to the .stormy weather the first rounds for the Fortune Cup and the Founders Cup were postponed, and will be played tomorrow. The draw remains as for last Saturday. One Day Tournament On Sunday 15th a very successful One Day Tournament was held. The day was bright but rather dold and windy with the result that the standard of scoring was not high. A number of visitors were present including a strong team from Wat- 1 mana. It is a pity that a few more of the club's own members were unable to give the tournament their support. A vote of thanks is due to the ladies who so cheerfully turn up at these meetings to assist with the catering and whose presence does so much to make the day a success. The trophy for the best gross; medal score over 36 holes was won by A. G. Cradwick 175 with A.. Powdrell 180 second. The trophy for the best net medial score over 36 holes was won by J. Denham 195—48—147 with F. Moody 198 —44-—154 filling .second place. J. Denham also won the trophy for the best medal round on handicap in the mor*ing with 101—24 —77. ,In the afternoon a Stableford Bogey was played the winner being S. W. Burstall with a score of 31.
