WE MUST FIGHT FOR HIM

During almost six years of war, Wha'katane district has a record to lie proud of in .sending overseas, the (lower of its manhood, which has represented the district with honour and distinction in every arm of the Service. During this period the people on the home front have done their part in seeing the boys overseas have been supplied with, parcelsand have been unstinting in their giving to all Patriotic appeals. Out with hostilities drawing to a close we on. the home front sLill J have a big task ahead. Our boys are now returning in ever increasing numbers some will return to their ol'd jobs but many will be unsettled and will require that sympathetic understanding but no matter in what, walk of life they may wish to settle we one and all have a duty to do and it is not sufTicie.nl. . for ux to say "Welcome home, you have done a great job" and leave them to firt,d their own feet. The local R.S,<A. has set as its objective for the present year the sum of £1000 and we know you will not let us down, as by letting us down you will let the boys; down. This, would be a tiling - unheard of to the public of this district. How do we hope to raise this sum: By donations of money cattle, or anything we can turn into easily no sum too large or too small. By various sports meetings, the first to be held will be a football match in August—Auctionecres v Carriers. In all our fixtures, we ask your full support. 'The year will be finished up by our annual Poppy week appeal in April next, when w T e expf't to exceed all records. Who do we assist what are our activities ani.l how do we. spend our money? Maori and Pakeha, man or woman, any person who has served overseas in any branch of His. Majr< esty's. Service. A special Rehabilitation Committee is set up to advise any returned man on any point. To assist in securing farms businesses or employment. To advise and make val,-t uations when required. To visit all >ew Soldier Settlers in the district an/1 extend to them the hand ofj friendship and welcome. Gift Cattle Scheme: To give to each fanner settler a bull, heifer or pig. To the farming community we solicit your help in this direction. To assist with pensions and appeals and fight, any ease where wa consider a soldier is; not getting a fair deal. To make, grants in caws of hards-hip make interest free loans in special cases. When the last call is sounded, to ensure that every Digger is given a proper burial and headstone and make all funeral arrangements where the next of *un so desires. . In this our appeal, we ask your wholehearted, and practical support, which we are sure we shall receive. Assist us to make our returned men proud of the district they fought; for.
