EDGECUMBE SUB-CENTRE Tlie Edgecumbe Sub-Centre of the Red Gross held its monthly meeting in Bell's Hall on Wednesday } July 4. There was a good attendance, of members and in the absence of the President Mrs Mexted, the ViceJ \ president presided. It is regretted that Mrs who was re-elected president at the. annual meeting in owing to ill-healthy is no longer able to carry on in that capacity. Mrs Mexted was eleeted to take her place with Mrs vice-president. A letter was read stating that there was a new publication of Red Cross cookery books expected soon. These books are an improvement on last ones ? being indexed and dealing with rationed foods. Several members placed orders: The letter stated that last year proceeds from sale of cookery" books amounted to £500. It was arranged that another shop day be held again in Whakatane next month if possible. Several sets of baby layettes were handed in finished and fresh ones J distributed; also a parcel of clothing for refugee box. Members are requested to be at the hall at 11 a.m. next Red CrosK day to enable all material on hand to be cut out. Members have collected tinned foods for and the box has been left for further contributions at Hay and Rogers till Saturday 14, when it will be delivered to Whakatane.
