MR A. E. He was educated in Auckland and. in which.latter place; lie spent much of his early life. In 1914 he came to » <■ Whakatane to open and manage a branch shop of the firm and since that time ? has seen the town and surrounding district develop and progress. ' I He was always keenly interested in the affairs of the town, holding " office as a member of the Borough) Council for He was also a member and l&st-president of the Bowling Club, and took an interest in the development of all other] sport in the district. Mr Bridger; was a member of the St. George's Church and served on the vestry*^. for many years.
