objects of schema CHAIRMAN'S REPORT At the recent meeting of the Whakatane County Council the chairman reported on the inaugural meeting of the Regional Planning Council which was held at Tauranga a short time ago. He outlined'the objects of the scheme which were as follows:— (a) To prepare ? in collaboration with the appropriate Government
Local Body and private agencies a thorough survey of the existing physical, social and economic conditions within the Region (including the graphic presentation of such data). (b) To formulate or examine pro,jects designed to provide economic employment within the Region for returning service personnel war workers during the transitional period from the cessation of hostilities until the time when long-range development plans can be put into operation. (c) To in harmony with social and economic polia long-range co-ordinated plan of physical development of the Refgion. i (d) Generally to do such acts or things as may be considered for the benefit of the ; community. It was resolved that the matter of appointment of a relevant County Committee vbe held over until after the next Regional Council meeting.
