Ltd., report tlie following -sales held recently:— Athol Friesian Stud The First Animal Sale of surplus young stock —2 year in-calf heifers and young bulls was held on the farm, Ota'kiri on June 5. Buyers were present from throughout the Bay of Plenty Waikato and Auckland districts. ■ Top price lor the heifers was 00 guineas paid by Mr 15. W. Hughes Waimana for Lot '-28. This was an outstanding type and exceptionally well grown heifer by-Oakview Keyes Romeo from Athol Ona Princess Sylvia H.C. Top price for yearling bulls, was 55 guineas paid by the Estate of the late F. J. Reynolds for Lot 4 — this is an exceptionally well-bred yearling by Athol King Trojan from Athol Fancy V.H.C.i Lot 8 was also secured by the same buyers at 31 guineas. Gibbs Tc Puke 32gns; Lot 22 ' E. C. Theobald Te Puke 30gns. The average prices realised were bulls 27gns; pedigree, heifers 2S 3-4 gns; unregistered heifers 22gns. Grade Jerseys On account of Mr J. S. Rae and Messrs J. E. and J. M. Rae. At the sale of grade Jersey cows and heifers held on June 13 steady prices Avere realised throughout. The offering comprised all the grade cows owned by Mr J. S. Rae. These cows were in calf to sires used in the pedigree herd and their progeny will be valuable to purchasers. line of 2 year in-calf heifers offered came forward in good order and showed quality and breeding. Avonsyde and Dafemere Stud Ayrshires, Rotorua The Fifth Annual Sale on account of Messrs F. and G. Hutchings was held on Tuesday June 19, on the farm, Ngakura, and buyers -vcre present i'rom all parts of the North Island. There, was an exceptionally keen demand for Mr Giff Hutch,'ng.-' female offering which comprised all cows in the herd over three years of age—the top price being ISOgns for Lot 41. Avonsyde Stylish Lady a 6 year old daughter of Avonsyde Star of Fame (Imp.) from a proven daughter in Ardgowan Stylish Star of Thorncroft Star Boy (Imp). The top price of the in-calf heifers offered by Mr F_ Hutchings was SOgns for Lot 72 another daughter of Avonsyde Star of Fame (Imp.) from a daughter of Macdonal-d Ambassador (Imp). The demand for yearling bulls was not quite as keen and buyers were fortunate in securing their selections at reasonable values. Principal sales included:— Cows: Lot 41, C. W. Seaview Stud Ayrshires At the annual sale of surplus females and young bulls on the farm Katikati on Wednesday, June 20, buyers were present from all parts of the Bay of Plenty and Wai'kato districts. Top price for 2 year in-calf heifers was 52gns paid by Mr H. S. Miller (*„orohanga for Lot 3. Mr J ° J L. S. Small paid the top price of SOgns for Lot 11 in the cows. There was keen competition on the line of yearling heifers, the top price in this section being 35gns foxLot 27 paid wby Mr W. Wallace, Cambridge. The same figure was paid by Mr J. B. Wadon Tauranga, for the yearling bull Lot 44. The average prices paid were: 2ycar in-calf heifers 39gns; cows 32 gns; yearling heil'crs 19}4gns; bulls 25 1 2gns.
