FIRE IN RESTAURANT
KITCHEN GUTTED OUTBREAK LAST EVENING At approximately 10.15 p.m. last night a fire occurred in the premises of Mr P. in the Strandi. Damage tp the building, which is used! as a was confined mainly to the kitchen which was* gutted and a certain amount of stock destroyed. When it was first noticed, «the fire had a good grip,, and thick black smoke reflecting the glare of the flames made it a difficult task to decide from the front which building the lire was in. When the Brigade arrived the blaze had already got a good grip but in a comparatively short time, it was under control. The first lead was taken through Timbs' butchery next door a sccond was taken through the front of the burning building, and a third was played from the top. ' A small amount of damage was done to the freezing plant and last nighty a slight small smell of escaping chlorine gas could be detected. This morning however f this hall ceascd. There was no insurance covering the contents of the building.
