FAREWELL FUNCTION
THREE WAIMANA FAMILIES DISTRICT RESIDENTS FOREGATHER The Waimana Hall was well filled with local residents and people from the surrounding districts, recently when a gathering to bid farewell to three well known and highly respected families who are leaving Waimana and Nukuhou North w.is held. Mr T. W. Ward law is the well known Jersey breeder, who has sold his herd and is to live a retired life in Remuera, Auckland. Mr Tipping is also a well known farmer in the Bay, and likew isc Mr Gallagher. All families will be greatly missed from the district. During the evening the lady guests were presented with beautiful bouquets of flowers to tone with their frocks. Mrs \\ ardlaw wore a ( Marina Blue frock. Mr* Gallagher chose navy blue mnroeain, and Mrs Tipping a pretty brown wool frock. Miss Mavis Wardlaw wore a dainty white georgette lrock white velvet coatee. Mr Burnett, on behalf of the residents of the 'district, presented the gentlemen guests with cheques as a .small token of appreciation or their great help to the district in the many past years. The lady guests also received gifts from all present with best wishes for the future. Mr M. King, on behalf of the Waimana Tennis said it was with regret they had to -say farewell to several members, Mr Wardlaw having been a keen and most helpful member for about 30 years as well as being president for a great number of years. Mrs Wardlaw had also been a member for 25 years and her help would never be forgotten. Mr Archie and Miss Mavis Wardlaw and Messrs. G. and N. Gallagher were also prominent members of the club. Mr King then presented Mr and Mrs Wardlaw with an enlarged photograph of the- club members, and a smaller framed photo- to Mr !n. and G. Gallagher, Miss Wardlaw and Mr A. Wardlaw, -with the i best wishes for the future. ' Mr J. Cain, on behalf of the' Y.F.C. asked Mr Wardlaw to accept a gift from that body in appreciation of his great help and interest to the club in the past. The guests, then, in a few wellchosen words thanked one and all for the pleasant evening and gifts presented to them. The Waimana Orchestra supplied the music for dancing and Mr A. Eagle played a much enjoyed set of Lancers on the accordion. Mr Angus again acted as M.C. The function closed in the early hours with Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem.
