DERBY BALL

CONCLUSION TO RACE MEETING Four hundred people packed the hall At where the Derby Ball Was held in in bright finale to The races at Te Teko. A-glitt'ring lights of every And streamers too Gave out a bright and festive air And livened up Te Teko. And people came from far and near Both males strong, and damsels iair ? They paid, the price to dance all night—< Enjoyed it at Te Teko. We're sorry we can't carry the verse anj' further but we can't get anything to rhyme with 'Atkinson,' and of course Mr Taffy Atkinson together with Mr O. Lord, who carried out the joint duties, of M.C. must be mentioned for the splendid way in which they kept the night bright and the crowd on its toes. The Premier Band was responsible for the music while Mr P. Steffert played a most enjoyable extra. A Monte Carlo was won by Mr L. Ferguson and Miss Burgess. j A novel touch was added to the proceedings, by the auction of a permanent wave and a thermos ilask. Mr R. Dunning purchased the former (! !) while the latter was knocked down to Mr P. StcfTcrt. Mr J. Corbett filled the roll of auctioneer. Altogether the whole evening was a great success and we trust that next year will see the same King's Birthday race meeting and ball repeated.
