ADULT EDUCATION
Sir } —In your issue of June 8 you give, some prominance to adult education in your sub leader. It is pleasing to note that this type "of education is coming into the limelight? perhaps it is because: people as a whole are becoming more inquisitive for knowledge, as well as a genuine suspicion that we are almost at all times not being informed fully on questions that do really concern us from day to day. Everything seems to be controlled and by the time it wends its way down to the layman it is almost and the result is that : the people remain in ignorance ) which is outside their control. I presume } and I think that the adult education scheme is under the auspices of the W.E.A. This valuable organisation has in its 1945 correspondence programme 46 lectures which cover a wide range of subjects, one of • which entitled "The Danger of Words" by W. J. jS. Scott ) M.A. y is at present being discussed by the Wlialcatane group [who have regular meetings and are | about to start on their 7th lecture. I would suggest that anyone interested in the contents of your sub leader should get in touch with Mr Mayow of Lovelock Street, or myself whereby the ball can be set rolling in order to achieve this Educational committee. T may point out that the subjects are not as difficult as most would presume, therefore people need not be afraid that they are going to have a gruelling time to achieve some .enlightenment. I thank you Mr Editor for giving this subject some prominence. Yours etc., J. DITCHFIELD.
