SUPPLYING OF LIQUOR
MAORI CONVICTED
Having been accosted in the Matatua Maori Council prohibited area with a bottle of beer protruding from his pocket and refusing to state where or how he procured Mana Mika, a Maori of Taneatua, was fined £2 with costs 27s in the Whakatane Magistrate's Court on Tuesday when he was charged with assisting some person unknown in the commission of an namely the supplying of liquor. The offence occurred on April 23. Constable Thomassen, in. stated that he had stopped accused on the street and questioned him concerning the beer. Accused had not made any endeavour to hide it but would not state where, he received it from. A fine as stated abovCj was inflicted.
