WHERE THERE IS SMOKE THERE IS FIRE

Sir —In the building of the New World and likewise our Dominion's; future all patches of smoke mustbe investigated. We have just sur-: vived the greatest slaughter of human life the world has known. Scripture has it that Noah with his great Ark saved sufficient of the then population to start a new world. Wickedness had prompted an act of God but the recent slaughter was prompted by an act of man the deep laid motive, behind the act being placed on the value of money. The promoters of the recent war raised the first smoke with the wholesale slaughter of Jews. The fire that caused the smoke was evidently kindled, by Jewish finance which was then asserting itself in the administration of the combines that harboured these people. We in New Zealand have, little if any complaints to make against the Jews living amongst us. I. personally, a very long way down the tree # have had experience of handling finance that in the light of recent events had patches of smoke behind it (I refer to our local Government) | the capital for non-producing cost being literally fired at. them.

The Big Fire today is the taking over of the banking system. In this idea arc the proposals of the British Labour Party's platform for the next general election to take over control of the Bank of England. The Australian Government propose a similar move and "New Zealand has moved in that direction. We the people elect these promoters of progress to the Parliaments of the coun-i tries in which we live, but the past has proved, that men who have had in their minds the building of progress and prosperity to a near success no sooner have got thfit far than they are up against a smoke screen laid by finance over .vhich they have no control. The position is who controls this finance that it can lay a £imioke screen to progress? Ought not these legislators who set out to direct the countries destiny control this finance fire? The great slogan today is 'Production.' Although sound production must have a capital in circulation equal to its value. What is the use ol' production if the consumer has not the money to purchase? Instancing this, it takes 100 tons of potatoes to supply the needs of Whakatane today costing £1000. In ten years time the same place with increased population can consume lf)0 tons but only has the original £1000 to purchase them with. Here is extra production with equal con-r suming power without its equal cost in circulation. Ask yourself who suffers? The octopus has its feelers on the producer on his labourers, and lastly the public have to go short of a necessity of life. Progress through all its channels meets this obstacle of non-circula-tion of capital. It is now if it never was before with a world half destro3 r ed and millions of lighting men awaiting rehabilitation that these world governments used a strong tire brigade to control this finance fire, and the best known place to start is with the banks—the lending institutions and Insurance Companies. These are the cogs in the wheels of progress that are interfering with its smooth working. It is necessary not to get rid of them but to control them and stop the continual grinding. Then and only then can the representatives of the people enter their place of meeting with a free hand to administer the progress demanded. Capital in its present, hands has killed half the people of the world. Invested in non-production, or in other words assets of non-production it if not controlled very soon, (Continued in previous column)
