Race Meeting at Te Teko The public is reminded of the Te Teko patriotic race meeting which is being held on Monday, June 4, the King's Birthday. An attractive programme has been arranged, and intending patrons can look forward to an entertaining day. This announcement was made by Air Chiel -Marshal Sir Charles Portal in a message to A.T.C. cadets. A short time ago a rumour was also circulatcd that the A.T.C. in Australia was preparing to disband. This is untrue. The A.T.C. in Australia is in a very strong position and will probably continue as a post-war movement. In New Zealand also a there is no thought yet of the Air Training Corps closing down. On the during June, a Do-minion-wide recruiting week will be held when it is hoped to consolidate the A.T.C. in an even stronger position than it is at present.

Cancellation of Fixtures A spontaneous and generous gesture on the part of the Edgecumbe | Patriotic Committee anil the Whakatane Indoor Basketball Association in cancelling their fixtures which included the holding of a ball on the night ol' the King's and a tournament on Saturday June 9th ? has been made to the Loan anil Mercantile Co. Avhich requires the Winter Show Buildings to dry and sort out its stock after the fire on Wednesday night. Far from turning the unfortunate happening to their own advantage., other firms arc doing all in their power to co-operate, and have lent office equipment etc. to enable the Loan Company to carry on. Business is to be carried on as usual in the Winter Show Hall * and clients are advised that the telephone connections are the same, as previously. j
