WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MATATA BRANCH MEETING The monthly meeting of the Matata Women's Institute was held on Wednesday, May 23 in the Presbyterian Hall. Mrs Reichardt presided over a good attendance of members and visitors. One new member was enrolled. The report of the recent Eisteddfod was read and discucssed. A competition, composing a telegram from the name of a place brought forth some very good results, Mrs Reichardt's effort being acclaimed the winner. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mrs Mrs Caverhill and Mrs Reichardt Competitions resulted as follows: — Apple short cake: Mrs Magee 1; Mrs R. Withy 2; Mrs H. Withy 3. Water crackers: Mrs H. Withv 1. Best vegetable:' Mrs H. Withy 1; Mrs Reichardt 2. Best flower: Mrs Smith 1; Mrs H. Withy 2. A vote of thanks was accorded the hostesses and a very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of-the National Anthem.*
