WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

EDGECUMBE MAY MEETING The May meeting of the Edgeeumbe Women's Institute was held on May 1.1 Mrs Burgess presiding over a good attendance. The meeting opened with the singing ol' the Ode to Friendship and the reading of the Aspirations. Two members are visiting a sick member who is in hospital. Mrs Spiers reported an enjoyable afternoon spent* at the Otakiri birthday party. A successful card party was recently held for Patriotic funds. The roll call, '"A Kindness I Will Always Remember " was well responded to and proved that a kindly act lives long in the ii}emory of the recipient. A competition, A telegram beginning with the letters of "Edgeeumbe" was won by Mrs Ferguson. A musical parcel was, won by Mrs Mullen. Mrs Ferguson entertained with a humorous recitation and the meeting ended 'with the singing of "Cod Defend New Zealand" and the Maori Battalion song.
