EDGECUMBE PATRIOTIC EFFORT
POSITION TO DATE
The Grandmothers' Derby initiated and promoted by the Edgecumbe Patriotic Committee is meeting with a fair measure of success and it is expected that, from now until the Ith June when the winner is declar-
Ed the competition between the aspirants will be more marked. Each' grandmother has associated with her an energetic and resourceful committee and their ways and means of capturing votes leaves one wondering how they thought that one out. House parties have been numerous and very popular and a ready means of collecting more votes. The position of the voting to date is:— Farmers Grandmother .... 7200 Industries Grandmother .. 4266 Sharemirkers Grandmother 3106 Sevices Grandmother ..... 3066 It is cxpected however that the contestants will not disclose their lull strength as yet and the placings at this stage do not reveal the true position. Preparations for a very entertaining day are in train, and from every point of view June 4th will be* a memorable and enjoyable, event.
