Metalling

Reporting to the Whakatane County Council at its last meeting with regard to metalling, the Engineer stated .as follows: Apart from the Easter holiday break } metalling of County roads has been proceeding smoothly. Up to date some cubic yaitds of gravel have been placed on roads throughout the County at a total cost of £3377 5s 6d. The metalling programme will not be completed under a month from date ? given fine weather, and of course the period will be prolonged should wet weather be experienced. A second contractor has commenced metalling and he is at present working on the Wainui Road carting from what is now known as "Heads Quarry."
