GALLONS PER HOUR
U.S. CARS MAY FIT FLOW-
METERS
According to Collier's Weekiy certain post-war American cars will bo equipped with dashboard accurate to one drop per minute. The new instruments will be electrically operated and linked with the -speedometer. Presumably the dial will resemble that of a standard speedometer in registering total consumption to date since fitting, plus the "growing trip" consumption. It would .certainly be interesting to learn in detail how one's mileage of, say, 30 per gallon is built up ? and to note, its variations between pottering in an. urban queue i revvihg on second up a stiff grade } and going Hat out on the level. The means of informing the driver how much remains in the tank is not stated. The flow is measured along the line between tank and carburetso the. incorporation of some normal form of tank gauge seems desirable.
