The Mayor (Mr B. S. Barry} willrepresent. the Borough at the forthcoming Bay of Plenty Regional Planning Conference to be held at Tauranga on April 26 next. Mr John Kcepa of Paroa } has received notification from the Department ol' Internal Affairs of his appointment as Maori Child Welfare Officer for the districts of Paroa and Poroporo. Local listeners will be interested to learn that tonight from 2YA Wellington a broadcast will be made from a recording of a selection of * the Fourth Armed Brigade Band 2nd N.Z.E.F. at 9.40 p.m. ? and that the soloist is S/'Sgt Ken Jarrett, son of Mr and Mrs W. Jarrett, of Whakatane. Mr and Mrs J. J. Butler of Do* main Road ' have received informa,tion from the Minister of Defence that their son ? Pte. J. J. for three years prisoner of Avar in Germany is now safe in England. A subsequent communication from their son himself shows him to be in good health and longing to .be home.
