WHAKATANE ZONE'S EFFORT

QUARTERLY PAYMENT? NOW DUE

The secretary of the Whakatane Zone of tlie Bay of Plenty Provincial Patriotic Council has received the following letter from the Provincial Council anent the current appeal:— "I beg to remind you that at last meeting of the Council budget for tlie current Financial Year was fixed at £24,000, of which amount 25 per cent, or £GOOO must be found by your Zone. "The Council also decidcd that quotas should be paid quarterly in advance and I am, therefore ? instructed to request, your early payment of the sum of £3000 j being the quarterly quotas due on the Ist October, 1944 and the Ist January, 1945." Additional to the above, the current quarter's levy of £1500 was due on the Ist April, making a total in all of £4500. To meet this levy, current appeal receipts amount to £67 15s and welfare funds in. cash which may be temporarily used in financing the £4500 amount to. £2408 15s lid. There is an immediate urgent need for funds to the extent of £2023 and committees holding funds on account- of the current quota are respectfully requested to remit such to the undersigned as soon as possible. April Pack The secretary also notifies that with the exception of the container cartons he iioav has in stock all commodities for the current parcel pack, viz. tinned jam, 'barley sugar, coffee and milk, oysters, shortbread, one. cake each of Protex soap and "Klex" salt and fresh water soap } toothpaste and stick of shaving soap. If the cartons come to hand next week all committees will then be asked to commence the parcel pack in the. following week. In accordance with the Zone's decision, each parcel will have included therein a card.
