SHIELD BOWLING MATCH

WIN FOR TANEATUA

The Shield match between the Taneatua and Whakatane Bowling Clubs played on the Whakatane Green on Wednesday last, was keenly contested throughout and provided a very exciting linish* When the last end was being played between Coe (Taneatua) and Luxton (Whakatane) the local club was one up in the aggregate score and was lying the shot also. Coe with a splendid drive took out the shot bowl leaving him three up on the 21st end. As this was the final game of the series Taneatua thus won on the aggregate by two points and will hold the Shield for 12 months.

The Feathers match for first year players was closely contested throughout but victory eventually went to the Whakatane rink comprising Spong, R. Stewart, Cocke.rel and Smoljan skip by 22 points to 16.

The. results of the games were as follows, the Taneatua Club members being first mentioned: —

King Marsh and Luxton (s) 31; Black, Middlemiss, Moody and Hunt (s) 19; Butler, Creeke, Harris and Murphy (s) 15. Aggregate: Taneatua 85 f Whakatane 83.
