THE RHINE
River of romance and song. Vineyards that drape the bank along. ( Producing the nectar called define, The rich, reviving "Old Rhine. Wine." Gallants gay and ladies Dining 'neath the candelabrum's light, Toasted each other lover-wise^ With the old ? old story in their eyes. Nations have bartered lives and gold, The rich Rhineland to have and hold. The present strife (may it be the last), Exceeds 'all records of the past. The Nazi owners of fair Rhineland, Let their ambition out of hand, Desired the world for r their playroom,. Lost the game and face their doom. Straffing peaceful London town, Has brought destruction pouring down On the Mecca of tyranny. Now a smouldering heap of masonry— A lesson all diplomats should learn ? Who for world domination yearn. H. SERGANT. '
