NEXT MONTH'S EVENT ARRANGEMENTS NOW PROCEEDING What it is hoped will be the record Scout Rally for the Bay of Plenty will take placie in Whakatane on May sth (Saturday) whfc'n something like 506 boys from all parts of the Scouting- districts attached to the Bay area 'will participate in a programme which will introduce entirely new features. Preliminary meetings of the various committees' have already taken place l and 1 it is anticipated that something like 200 boys will require billeting for the week-end, A joint meeting of the Whakatane Citizens ; Scottish and Awakcri troop committees took place recently when it was unanimously decided to set up joint sub-committees to run the Rally and arrange for a succession of events over the weekend. Officers were appointed as under: Committee Chairman and Rally Chief: Mr Naden Matthews. Rally Secretary: Mr W. G. C. Hurst. Programme Committee: Messrs C. F. T. H. Fergusson, T. Howell N. Matthews and C. King*9 sley-Smith. Grounds Committee: Messrs W. Wliittaker, R. T. Hurndell, A. Flay 5 Boulcott, Parker ? Rushbrook, Jones McLay (convener) the Commissioner and Rally Chief. Catering Committee: Mesdames Rivett DoCkray, and Windley (conveners) Chadwick, Flay, Fergusson Matthews and Carter. Billeting Committee: S.M.s T. H. Fergusson (convener), C. F. T. Howell and Commissioner C. Kingsley-Smitli. Campfire Committee: Messrs T. Atkinson (convener) ? J. Kemp and S.M. C. Lofley. Church Parade and Service Committee: Rev. H. M. Bell (convenor). Entertainment Officers: Messrs G. Kemp and J. Gattsche. Local Hosts: Messrs N. Carter, Rushbrook and Mesdames Carter and Matthews. Gear Officer: Mr B. Parker. Transport Officer: Mr E. Hughes. Publicity Officer: Mr C. KingsleySmith. Marshal Is: Messrs H. Cutler and D. Bugler. Canvassers: Messrs C. F. Thomas. J. A. Boulcott and C. KingsleySmith. The first meeting of the executive which embraces all the conveners of ,the above, groups plus the Rally Chief, Secretary ? Commissioner and Scoutmasters takes place tomorrow evening, at 7.30 p.m.
