WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
ANNUAL MEETING HELD
The annual meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou branch of the Women's Institute was held last week in the Waimana Hall. There was a very good attendance of members and three hew members were welMrs R. White, Miss Z. White and Mrs J. Litt. The President, Mrs Wylde pre sided and after reading the motto, all jouied in the singing of the Institute song. It was decided to writ? each month to a Mrs John Addison, who is at present at Nuhaka. A gift from Institute members, an Institute cookery book and a wall vase was sent to Mrs B. Wilson who was married recently. Mrs, Wilson (nee Miss M. Woolfield) has been a member for many years and takes with her the best wishes l'rom all members for her future happiness. Delegates chosen to attend the annual Council meeting in Opotiki were Mrs Stansbury and Mrs H. Wardlaw. April being members day j Mrs King, Mrs Woolfield and Mrs T. Wardlaw are to arrange the entertainment for the meeting. During the meeting, a short humorous sketch was presented by two members of the Drama Circle Mrs
Cooper and Mrs J. W T ardlaw and was greatly enjoyed by all. The balance sheet and report were adopted, the latter was lull of interest and revealed the amount of work carried out during the past year. At this stage of the meeting, Mrs Wylde took the opportunity 01 thanking the secretary and all members for their help ancl co-operation during the year.
Reports were read by the Drama and Gardening Circle which showed both circles had had a busy year. Mrs Wylde. presented the prizes won by members in the past year for competitions.

suing year followed:—President: Mrs Wylde (reelected); secretary-treas-urer: Mrs H- Wardlaw (re-elected); vice-presidents: Mrs Hewitt and Mrs E. P. Woolfield; auditor: Mrs Stevenson; committee: Mesdames GallagN. Cooper, M. King, F. Savage, J. Mitchell W. Stevenson G. Stans* bury, G. Hewitt and E. P. Wool., field.
The results of the annual competitions are as follows: —General competitions: Mrs HeAvitit 1; Mrs F. Bell 2; Mrs I. Savage 3. Best double flower: Mrs Bell 1; Mrs T. Wardlaw aiul Mrs Stevenson equal, 2. Best single flower: Mrs Hewitt 1; Mrs Bell 2; Mrs T. Wardlaw and Mrs: Steven-* son equal 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Bell 1; Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Stansbury equal 2.
The results of the day's competitions were as follows: —Bouquet: Mrs Stevenson 1; Mrs Wykle 2; Mrs F. Bell 3. Tomato sauce: Mrs Hewitt 1; Mrs Bell 2. Best double llower: Mrs I. Savage 1; Mrs King 2; Miss E. Wardlaw 3. Best single flower: Mrs Hewitt 1; Miss Wardlaw 2; Mrs Stevenson 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Hewitt 1; Mrs Stansbury 2; Mrs Bell 3.
Afternoon tea was served by the after which Mrs Wylde thanked the tellers 5 Mrs J. Wardlaw Mrs Marra and Mrs H. Bell
the hostesses and Mrs Turner and Mrs Litt for acting as judges and all who helped during the meeting. The singing of the National Anthem closed the function.
