COMING OF AGE
GAY LOCAL PARTY 'BILL' RIVETT ATTAINS MAJORITY The coming-of-age party of Mr W. Rivett ? eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. D. of. Whakatane ? was celebrated last Monday evening with traditional fun and ceremony. Some thirty guests attended a special dinner at the Commercial Hotel where the toast to the guest of honour was proposed by the Mr B. S. Barry. The party saw some fifty guests assemble, from town and country to spend a bright and happy evening to mark the occasion. Dancing and games were the order not forgetting a special entertainment competition initiated by Mr J". Hooper of Auck-i land and which was won by popular choice by Miss Nancy Fergusson of Edgecumbe. The cutting of the beautifully iced" birthday cake was preceedecl by a few remarks by Mr C. KingsleySmith Avho wished Bill the very best prospects for the future on behalf of all present. Bill was then presented with the traditional golden door-key by his younger Phyllis, after which all joined in cheers and musical honours..
