■Scouting interests throughout the Bay of Plenty are now directed to the prospect of the forthcoming annual rally which this year is, to be held in Whakatane on May 12. .A meeting of Scouters has already been held and full details of the programme arranged. The setting up of a rally committee is the next step and this will be convened by Mr N. Mathews Chairman of the Citizens' Committee t in the near future. As in the past the rally wili be spread over two days covering a full programme on Saturday afternoon, a camp lire and concert on Saturday night, a church parade and sightseeing trip on Sunday and the final dispersal on Monday morning. It is anticipated that something like 350 scouts wili be taking part which will necessitate the billeting of well over a hundred in Whaltatane. The programme \vil! } it is hoped be something of a departure from that which has usually been seen throughout the Bay. It will include tent pitching pioneering and nature study events for the cubs. Variations have also been made in the routine competi-. tions such as wall-sca!ing ? signalling and ambulance work, while the points marking has been completely overhauled. Every effort will he made this year to promote a rally which will be one of the best exhibitions of scouting activities yet seen in the Bay.
