Whakatane on Wednesday February 28. Bishop Cruickshank was consecrated Bishop of Waiapu on February 2 at Napier. He succeeded Bishop Gerard who last year resigned the See in order to continue as a Chaplain to the Forces. , Bishop Cruicks-hank who before his con-
secration was Dean of Dunedin is very widely komvn and loved right throughout the country. In the last war he served as a chaplain in the New Zealand forces, and in 1937 was appointed chaplain to the N.Z. Contingent which visited Australia for the Centenary Celebrations. There is a keen sense of gladness throughout the Diocese of Waiapu that it hos Bishop Cruickshank at its head. The Bishop will meet Taneatua people at St. Matthew's Church, Taneatua at. half past three on Wednesday' 28. In Whakatane there will be a service in St. George's Church at 7 o'clock at which the Bishop will preach. After the service there will be a gathering in the Parish Hall where it will be possible for all to meet him. On Thursday morn--1 ing t March the Bishop will celebrate. at a Holy Communion service in St. George's Church at 7 o'clock, j People at Matata will have an opjportunity of meeting him at about ! 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon at I the Matata Church.
