UNTIDY WATERFRONT

HEALTH INSPECTOR'S COM-

PLAINT

HARBOUR BOARD CO-OPERATES

In a letter to the Whakatane Harbour Board last Friday, the local Health Inspector, Mr A. R. requested the Board to have a cleanup of all refuse. tins, boxes etc. along the waterfront, at the rear of the shops from the. N.Z. Road Services OfTiccs westward. Although it was known that shopkeepers were, still .depositing refuse in this area, none had been seen actually doing so. A prosecution would be recommended if anyone was seen doing so. The chairman (Mr W. R. Boon) agreed that the letter wa& timely and that the Board should co-operate in order to put down the practice of rubbish dumping which was causing the waterfront to look so unsightly. It was decided to take the necessary action when next opportunity offered.
