DANGEROUS DOGS

Sir i} — There is a matter that needs immediate attention, it is the custom of owners of dogs to let them run loose and so cause fear in smali children. Teachers tell the little ones to keep on the* side path that runs beside the school and not to cross; that of course, is the best advice but how long is that child going to do this? The other, day I was visiting friends in Domain Road when we heard the sudden bark of a dog which rushed out as a wee boy was passing. We heard a terrified scream and there the boy stood too frightened to cross the road or go past.. The owners of these dogs should be made to tie them up—if you happen to say something to them they smile and say "Oh our dog wouldn't bite it is used to children." How do these small folk know that? To my knowledge there are at least five dogs on the Domain Road between the infant school and the next corner. Trusting this complaint will at least draw the owners attention to the menace or if not perhaps there are those in authority that Avill do something about it. Yours etc., "AUNTIE MARY;"
