Local Airmen Home Included in the Royal New Zealand Air Force personnel who have arived in New Zealand from Britain are the following: Corporal E. J. Cleaver Aircraftsman H. H. Armstrong (Whakatane). Surprise Party . A surprise party was given by men of the P.W.D. and their wives, to Mr and Mrs K. McKenzie last J Tuesday evening prior to their leaving the Whakatane district. A pleasant time was spent in community singing, games and competitions. Mention in Despatches Advice that the King has approv ed of the mention in despatches of the. following district men, members of the Second N.Z. Expeditionary Force has been received by the Minister of Defence: W. 0.1. D. S. Wilson Whakatane; Sgt. C. C. Davies, Taneatua; and L-Sgt N. A. Pulley ? Whakatane.
