POSITIONS OF CANDIDATES
From the latest figures available the positions of the three Queen .Carnival candidates are as under: — Farmers' Queen (M'ss Jackson) 9GOO votes Sports. Queen (Miss N- Ferguson) .... 7200 votes R.S.A. Queen (Miss H. Cave) MOO votes It is understood that the crowning ceremony will not take place till some time after the Gymkhana on Saturday. A suggested tentative date is Wednesday, February 22. i !
Fall of Rock With regard to a local which appeared in a recent issue of the Beacon concerning a fall of rock at the Heads ? it has been suggested that the fall was probably caused through the cliff face being loosened by the blasting operations which are being carried on by the Harbour Board close to the spot where the slip occurred. If this is the case, all anxiety concerning the safety of the Heads should be removed al though it would behove people walking round the rocks to keep a wary eye on the spot above where the blasting has been in progress-..
