DISTRICT SCOUT CAMP

NOW HELD AT OHIWA

STRIKE CAUSES ALTERATION

After having to unavoidably po&tpone the District Scout Camlp( whi'ichj was to be htjfd lit Lake Rotoma commencing Saturday owing to the serious rupture of provisions and materials d'ue to the Railway the committee has decided to hold a less<er camp embracing Scouts from the Eastern Bay at Ohiwa. This camp will run from Saturday 27 to Saturday February 3 and will embrace approximately 80 boyis. The troops concerned will be the Opotiki troops., Waiotahi and the Whakatane Citizens and Scottish. Opotiki boys will observe, the same arrangements and will arrive during the afternoon. The local boys will still muster at S.M. Fergusson's residence and be ready to move off at 2 p.m. They will bring with them the details of the original list of gear including old clothes bathing suit, towl, blankets etc. Ths levy will be the same—ls/-, and each boy is asked to bring with him hall' a poured of butter. There is no reason why the new site j which obviates the transport problem for both centres should not prove an excellent one as far as a Scout camp is concerned. With the harbour on one side and the ocean beach on the other there is always good fishing, grand bathing and cockles second to none. Ohope is within cooee and there shoiild be no shortage of immediate provisions at any time. The camp will be accommodated in tents;, and an appeal is made to residents who may own them to make them available for the week. Every care will be taken ami all tents so loaned will be returned in good condition and repair. Further enquiries regarding the camp should be made with S.Ms G. F. Thomas j Te H. Fergusson, Mr F. McLeay, or Commissioner C. King-sley-Smith.
