BRITISH PROPOSAL
NATIONAL MATERNITY SERVICE
MORE PROGRESS SOUGHT
The inauguration of a national maternity service to include all existing services and to be controlled by a single authority, is advocated in a report recently issued by the maternity and Infant Health College of Obstetricians in London. The committee is of the opinion that the fall in the rate of maternal mortality in England is not so great as the progress in medical sciences would 'warrant* and that it could be further reduced.
