"THREE BLIND MICE"
ORIGIN OF LITTLE RHYME Do you know that the innocent little rhyme } "Three Blind Mice," at one time had a terrible significance? This was during the reign of Queen. Mary of England. The clergy were then called and Mary was the "farmer's wife," because of her possession of the Abbey farms. In order to prevent a return to the authority of the Pope of Rome the "three' blind mice " S J Cranmer j Latimer and Ridley, } vainly "ran after the farmer's, wife " and in consequence suffered martyrdom. The rhyme was afterwards written as a lampon on the and it was said that Mary suffered more anguish from hearing the "Three Blind Mice" than from any other of the many other lampoons written against her.
