MERRIE —DU PONTET
St. John's Presbyterian Church Opotiki, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on* Wednesday, January 10, when Winifred Jeanne, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Du Pontet Waiotalii was mar't i? ried to George William elder son of Mr and Mrs G. Merrie, Taneatua. The Rev. A. C. Hampton officiated and the. wedding music was played by Mrs H. S. Holmes. The church had been tastefully decorated with flowers in shades; of white and cream. The. bride, who entered the church with her father, looked charming in a gown of cream patterned in a leaf design. The bodice was moulded to the figure, with a heartshaped neclc-line and was set in tiny points to a very full skirt. The sleeves were fitting, and finished with a point over the hands. A row of tiny buttons finished off the back of the bodice. She wore her grandmother's veil of fine Brussclls net- ornamented with a butterflj' of Brussells lace, and caught to her head with a top-knot of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white rose buds, carnations, gladioli, chiffon daisies and apapanthus and tied with satin ribbon from her mother's bouquet. The two bridesmaids Miss Alice Russell, of Hamilton and Miss Naida HeAvitt of Waimana. cousin of the bridegroom, were dresed alike m frocks of white satin, patterned in a large floral design of pastel shades. Their frocks were cut. on similar lines to the bride's, with full sleev®& set in a tight-fitting band at the elbow. Their head-dress was a blue silk snood finished with a top-knot of pink carnations. They each wore a necklet of paua shelly the gift of the bridegroom, and carried Ijouquets of cream and pastelshaded flowers to tone, with their frocks. Little Lynnette Payne j niece of the bride, made a sweet little flow r er girl. She wore a frock of pink silk rayon patterned in a leaf design and made with a full skirt and fitted bodice, and a poke bonnet to match. She carried a horseshoe of white satin ribbon trimmed with orange blossom. The bridegroom attended by his cousin, Pilot Officer C. Nielsen;, as best man, and Mr 11. Willis, of, Tauranga as groomsman. During the signing of the register, a solo, "Will you go with me?" was rendered by Mrs W. S. Butterworth sister of. the bride. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the Waiotalii Hall, which had been decorated with flowers in shades' of pink and blue. Mrs Du Pontet received her guests, wearing a frock of blue with navy accessories. Mrs Merrie, mother of the. bridegroom, wore an ensemble of black with black accessories. Mrs Wardlaw of grandmother or the bridegroom, also wore a black ensemble, with black accessories. A beautifully decorated wedding cake took pride of place at the bridal table The usual toasts were honoured and a large . number ot telegrams from friends and relatives were read. Later, Mr and Mrs Merrie left for their honeymoon, the bride wearing a crepe frock of powder blue } with navy accessories. In the a dance, was held in the Waiotalii Hall, where friends gathered and spent a very pleasant evening. Music was supplietd by Mr and Mrs M. King, of Waimana, and the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr W. S. Butterworth,
