CLARKE SHIELD CONTEST

WIN FOR CENTRAL

The Paroa-Taneatua combined team was matched against Central on Sunday to< play the third game in the Clarke Shield contest, the result being a first innings win for Central by 21 runs. The combined team opened the first innings and two wickets fell almost immediately for 3 runs up. Douglas, former Rotorua player, made 12 in nice style while Peebles and Grant also batted well ? making 15 and 9 respectively. Central opened their innings with the loss of their first batsman in the second over. Galyer then went to the wicket and totik the score up 21 in line style. Campbell also gave a sound exhibition, carrying his hat for 25 not out. Excitement ran high when Central needed 9 to win with two men left to bat. McDonald joined Campbell and stayed till the required score was reached while Salvidge and Campbell between tliem took it to 82.
