FRENCHMAN HATED BRITISH AND GERMANS
The Paris purge court sentenced to death Henri 'journalist for collusion with the enemy. Admiral Muselier gave evidence that Bereaud's paper "Gringoire" was read at every mess in the French navy and widely contributed to the navy's demoralisation. Bereaud, during the trial said: "I hate the Germans and British, and practically all foreigners. I' am 100 per cent. Frenchman." The judge retorted: "I <lo not know where we would be today without. the British," Pnfuriated crowds lynched four men as a protest against, the re-= prieve of the former Mayor of says the Paris correspondent of the British United Press. Resistance members, when they heard that the mayor's death sentence had been called on the people to protest. The mob stormed the prison but the mayor had already been transferred elsewhere . They dragged out and shot, four other accused men: under a death sentence.
