Post-war Synthetic Tyres An important constituent of rubber .mixtures" whether natural or synthetic is -carbon black. According to reports from America a petroleum company has developed a new type of furnace blac'k particularly for this use. Test tyres made with butadiene synthetic rubber and the new carbon black have proved to be more durable and cooler running than existing synthetic tyres; and it is expected that when commercially produced they will last the working life of the car. Let us hope that this is> not just wishful thinking.
