NUKUHOU NORTH
SCHOOL BREAK-UP A most pleasant evening was spent in the Nukuhou North when the school breaking-up ceremony was held. The school rooms had been most tastefully decorated .with flowers, and streamers balloons. The greatest attraction being a huge Christmas tree, in one corner of the room and it was laden with gifts for all children and several adults. The school children entertained all present with folk dancing, singing Christmas carols and several small ulaycrs were presented. All items were greatly enjoyed and were of a high standard and reflect great credit on the teachers, Miss Lee. and Mr Vant. At the conclusion of the items or rather while the children were singing "Jingle. Bells" Fathei Christmas and great excitement followed, he soon proceeded to cut the gifts from the tree. The prizes wpn on Calf Club day were presented to the successful competitors by Mr N. J. C. Macdonald. During the evening Mr and MrsMacdonald received valuable gifts off the Christmas tree from the residents oi Nulcuhou North with best wishes in their new home at Papatoetoe. The distribution of paper hats to all the children and adults added greatly to the fun of the evening. After supper and ice creams, the. adults enjoyed several hours of danc- j ing when the National Anthem closed the. happy function.
