RELIC OF LONDON BLITZ
A unique and historic memento of the air battle on the House of Commons on May 10th ? 1941 ? has been presented to the N.Z.R.S.A. through the courtesy of Leyland Motors Ltd. I.t."takes the form of an ash-tray fashioned out of the fragments of stone recovered from the ruins *
During the salvage operations a quantity of the material recovered by H.M. Ministry of Works to be disposed of for certain charitable purposes. Each article made from the ruins was given a serial number and carried with it a certificate of authenticity by Sir Vincent Bajddeley K.C.B.
In presenting to the N.Z.R.S.A. one of the limited number of these historic relics available for New Zealand Mr Duncan F. Baucliop, General Manager of Leyland Motors stated that he thought the Association was the most appropriate recipient of such a memento.
