CENTRAL DEFEAT UNITED

The second series of the Ist round, in the Clark Shield competition was played during the week-end and oni the Domain Central were successful against United by 72 runs on the first innings. United's defeat may be attributed to very weak batting against accurate but not dangerous* bowling. Central took first strike and started very slowly 4 it was not until the advent of Malaquin and Phillips that the scoring rate increased.
