ARMY HARVESTERS
MEN AGAIN AVAILABLE
The Army personnel stationed al Matata to assist with harvesting operations returned to camp on Friday last ? after a week's Christmas holiday leave.
Prior to the holidays, broken time was experienced through inclement weather conditions but
since their return the ideal harvest-* ing weather lias permitted full advantage to be taken of their services.
The unfortunate interruption of rain yesterday has upset all Avork. Inconvenience will be caused to some farmers whose later out crops will be ready to stack before the men will have completed their last job.
After conversation with Army headquarters there are prospects oi' securing an additional 10 men to the stength of the camp which will ease the position over the next two or three weeks when work is at the peak.
At present only 22 men are available and reports from fanners who have utilised their speak highly of the manner in which the men perform their work.
Any farmers desiring assistance with their harvesting should communicate with the Secretary of the Primary Production Council. Early applicants will have priority in. the use of the men.
