MEETING AT EDGECUMBB

The monthly meeting of the Edgecombe Women's Institute was held recently, xtfter the Ode hacl been sung Mrs Anderson read the 'As-i pirations.' Mrs Anderson also cap"ably carried out the duties of presi-» dent for the first half of the meeting. Apologies were received from Mrs Snelling 5 Mrs Spiers j Mrs Crang, Mrs Dysart ? Mrs: Law and, Mrs Jacksojn. Arrangements were made by members interested to hold a picnic at Thornton Beach on Tuesday January 16. The Roll Call "Do's and Dont's" in jams and preserves brought forth: many useful hints. The rest of the afternoon <vas devoted to the child* ren present. After fun at races all were served with the dainties moat children associate with Christmas parties. Evidence of their enjoyment was reflected by the children's faces and the empty plates 011 the tables. Afternoon tea was served to members and friends. A wall competition was won by Mrs Bryers. The monthly competition results were as follows: "Christmas novelty from scraps ? Mrs Righton 1. War-< time mincemeat Mrs Hodson 1. Gladioli Mrs G. Pearse and Mrs Salvidge tied for 1. Best flower,.
