YOUNG CALEDONIANS
POPULAR SOCIAL EVENING
WIND-UP DANCE
A well attended Young Caledonian Club social evening held la,st Saturday marked the clo.se of the club for tiic. year. The evening as usual was a success' everyone being gay and joining in the fun with the best of spirits. The Pipe Band heralded the opening dance, and the people needed no encouragement to start. Popular singing items were rendered by a bevy of young nightingales under tiie gui.se of the "Haggis Harmonisers " coached by Mrs H. L. King. The items were received with applause, the encoi'e proving to be equally popular. Mrs Simons and Mr Ball were the winners of the Lucky Partner Snowball Foxtrot Margaret hit:l Don Howat being the Monte Carlo waltz winners. Miss Isabel Martin danced the Sean 11 Trubhais and after prolonged applause repeated the popular item. A delightful supper was .served and was very well received by the large crowd present. Before dancing commenced again who should arrive but Santa Claus himself piped in amid cheers and laughter. After an amusing speech he eallcd for four 'good girls' namely Misses 1. N. Rivett % A. Littlejohn and J. Wilson and presented each with a present. He outlined the good work these, four had put into the club going far out of their way to do all they could. In everyone's opinion they riehh* deserved something for their efforts. It was regrettable, that Ann LiLtlejohn was unable to be present. The Junior Pip;* Band rendered a selection oL band which were most enjoyable. Much praise is due to these young people in the way they have attained such a high .standard of proficiency. Dancing .started again with a Streamer Foxtrot aiwi wilh streamers. and corfettl galore proved to be. somewhat hilarious. Special thanks are due to the artists and. all others 'who helped Lo make tin* evening so successful. We extend our congratulations to the c!ub on the. fine series' of evenings it lias held since its formation and trust that it will fnv-.l an equal measure of support when it reopens in -19-1.1.
